ABSTRACT 2023

SHAPES  COLOR and COMPOSITION.

1. PROCESS. Abstraction as a result of EXTRACTION.

Improvisation and freedom,  exploring and experimenting possibilities in a spontaneous and fresh way remain the basis of the creative process.

THE TRAVEL .

Why the Travel ? What he travel means ?

The travel, so much present theme in the jewelry collection STORIES ,  it is in fact a process itself. SOLO TRAVEL, a space for a silent internal processing and progressing, elaboration and digestion, while the senses are invested by the beauty of life and the world.

The results in a progress of the human being as well as the creative process.

The 3 weeks and 4.000 km moto travel on the stunning lands of the Pyrenees in Summer 2022 resulted in the process of extraction.

SHAPES. A PROCESS OF EXTRACTION .

Proceeding along the path of freedom with the porpouse of finding MY WAY of representing the world and with the need of combining drawing and painting, I focused on asking myself HOW.

The PROCESS OF EXTRACTION has been the result of the search to the answer of this question.

The first step of the process is drawing one two three times the same view or a landscape in order to extract the shapes. Tracing Black lines on paper and geometries, rearranging the shapes until losing sometimes the connection to the original reality .

Therefor ABSTRACTION as a RESULT OF THE EXTRACTION .

COLORS

SHAPES and COLORS are equally important in the composition of a painting.

Colors inspire me in a step by step decision making process until I feel as the painting is finished.

2. MATERIALS

BACK TO PAPER .

In 2023 I come back to paper. After all my first love and the support that somehow makes me feel more free.

I use watercolor paper. Paper specifically made for oil and acrylic paint. Or sometimes I use old paper sheet and BOOK pages. I prepare them by pasting two pages and then giving a base layer of paint .

MEDIUMS .

I am using acrylics and oil pastels on paper.

  • Why Acrylics? I like Acrylics especially for two reasons. First because they can be easily used in layers . Second because they allow you to easily create relief textures.
  • Oil Pastels. I like to add some details with oils pastel. I find they give more light and life to the painting.

I am always fascinated by the beauty of the interactions of materials, colors and TOOLS .

  • I like using a windscreen wiper to spread a ore or less liquid first layer of color.
  • Then I use different kind of spatulas, from metal and specific designed for painting to plastc cards.
  • Eventually different kind of brushes.

DIGITAL

I honestly have been reluctant for a long time. BUT In the perspective of being more able to freely move around the world , the time has come.

Therefor I finally got to create a few drawing and painting using PROCRATE on my tablet.

Creating a painting in real canvases is a complex experience, a process and a flow in which all your being is projected in the canvas trough the involvement of the senses.  This is obviously not happening with the digital support. That’s why digital will never be a substitute for real paintings.

Despite this, I found it somehow more pleasant than expected after all.

The INSPIRATION remain in within myself, as for the other works, in the experiences and drawings , what I see and how I feel. I have created some artworks inspired to the watercolors landscapes I was use to paint some time ago.

Because, on the other hand, offer different possibilities and, as it happens with different medias and supports, each one allows  to create and facilitate different ideas eventually different creations.

3. WHY  ABSTRACT

I am often bouncing back and forward from abstract to figurative, playing and studying, since day one, when I started with watercolors.

Sometimes I mix it all up, adding one element at a time into a unique composition with no schemes applied.

Abstract is a place  of freedom, no constriction, not rules, but the sense of composition, which allow me to
